ABOUT WILL POWER
PROTOCOLS

Books, free training tools, and research-based articles for athletes and active adults over 50 — written by a Marine veteran and four-time Ironman who reports what the research actually measured.

MY STORY

BROOKLYN. THE MARINES. COLLEGE RUNNING. IRONMAN. STILL RACING AT 61.

  1. Will Power as a young man in Brooklyn, in aviator sunglasses and a denim vest

    BROOKLYN

They called me Chillie Willie. We were poor, and at 15 somebody handed me a needle and I said no. The battle hardening started there.

  2. Will Power as a young Marine in Thailand in 1985, carrying belts of .50 caliber rounds

    MARINES, 1983–1987

Thailand, 1985. A gunnery sergeant told me I wouldn't come back from Okinawa, that drinking would kill me. The Corps taught me everything is a battle.

  3. A Marine paratrooper descending under an open parachute against a blue sky

    MARINES, AIRBORNE

A small airborne unit. We ran ninja runs: 11 to 13 miles around base with obstacle courses built in. I wasn't the best one out there. The standard is what stayed with me.

  4. Will Power running a college cross-country race in a green jersey

    COLLEGE CROSS-COUNTRY AND TRACK

I showed up for college cross-country at 203 pounds and got down to 175, still the biggest guy on the team. Most Improved Athlete at both colleges I ran for.

  5. Will Power finishing the 1988 Long Island Half Marathon

    LONG ISLAND HALF MARATHON, 1988

Probably my best race: 1 hour 27 minutes, at 175 pounds.

  6. Photo proof sheet from the 1988 New York City Marathon finish

    NEW YORK CITY MARATHON, 1988

The clock shows gun time; my watch said about 3:32, after a long walk to the start. I couldn't afford to order the photo, so this is the proof sheet.

  7. Will Power at his first Ironman in 2008, with WILL POWER printed on bib 1218

    THE NAME, 2007

The name came to me in 2007, on training rides for a 100-mile charity ride at Lake Tahoe. A year later it was on my bib at my first Ironman: bib 1218, the same one on the cover of my memoir.

  8. Will Power coming out of the swim at Ironman Lake Placid 2008

    IRONMAN LAKE PLACID, 2008

In 2007 I weighed 243 pounds and couldn't swim. A year later I came out of the water at my first Ironman.

  9. Will Power crossing the Ironman Lake Placid finish line in a Marine Corps jersey

    IRONMAN LAKE PLACID, 2010

My second Ironman, back on the same course.

  10. Will Power wearing an Ironman finisher medal

    IRONMAN NEW YORK, 2012

My third Ironman, one of more than 300 races over the years.

  11. Will Power in 2018, at 273 pounds, in sunglasses and a leather jacket

    2016–2021: THE FALL

Five years with one race, a Thanksgiving 5K in a turkey hat. My weight climbed to 275 pounds. In 2021, I started racing again.

  12. Will Power exhausted and smiling in a foil blanket after Ironman Lake Placid 2022

    IRONMAN LAKE PLACID, 2022

My fourth and last Ironman. I made the 17-hour cutoff by less than 10 minutes.

  13. Will Power with his finisher medal at the Marine Corps War Memorial after the 2025 Marine Corps Marathon

    MARINE CORPS MARATHON, 2025

I signed up for the Marine Corps Marathon three times before I finally ran it, at 60. It finishes at the Marine Corps War Memorial, the same image I have tattooed on my arm.

  14. Will Power doing a barbell front squat at a CrossFit gym

    TODAY, AT 61

Still running and training functional fitness for strength and mobility. I qualified for USA Triathlon Nationals at 60 while racing as a Clydesdale. My books follow what I care about: training, cooking, health and longevity.

TRICIA

My rock and my biggest supporter. She started CrossFit first and talked me into it.

THE MISSION

Most health and fitness content is built for people in their 20s and 30s. Will Power Protocols exists for a different audience — experienced athletes and adults who have the discipline and the data, but need frameworks built around their actual physiology.

The goal is simple: help you add high-quality years — not just years — by combining the science of longevity with the discipline of endurance athletics.

THE AUTHOR

MARINE VETERAN

and lifelong competitive athlete

300+ RACES

across seven disciplines

4× IRONMAN

finisher

USAT NATIONALS

qualifier, as a Clydesdale athlete

Will Power is the founder of Will Power Protocols, an independent health, performance, and longevity publishing platform built around a simple idea: people make better decisions when they understand the science behind them.

A Marine veteran and lifelong competitive athlete, Will has completed more than 300 races and athletic events across triathlon, road races, cross-country, track and field, Tough Mudder, CrossFit, and Orangetheory competition. He is a four-time Ironman finisher and qualified for the USA Triathlon National Championships as a Clydesdale athlete. Those decades of training and competition helped fuel a lasting fascination with human performance, health, discipline, longevity, and what allows people to remain strong and capable as they age.

A longtime technology professional, Will brings the same analytical mindset to his writing. That combination of science, athletics, and curiosity eventually became Will Power Protocols and a growing collection of books examining strength, nutrition, longevity, biomarkers, metabolic health, exercise, and performance after 50.

Will approaches each book as a research and writing project. Claims are sourced to the primary literature and cited in place, with particular attention to what the underlying studies actually measured — and where the evidence is thin, mixed, or absent, the book says so. His goal is not to replace physicians or other qualified healthcare professionals, but to make complex research understandable, practical, and useful to readers who want to take a more informed role in their own health.

Will is not a physician, dietitian, researcher, healthcare provider, lawyer, or financial advisor, and his books are written for educational and informational purposes rather than as individualized medical, financial, or legal advice.

01

EVIDENCE-DRIVEN

Everything starts with what published research actually measured: VO2 max, strength, body composition, sleep, recovery. The books report the evidence at the strength it has, and say so where it's thin.

02

SOURCED AND CITED

The books cite the primary research in place, and articles that discuss research list their sources with PubMed links. Where the evidence is thin, mixed, or absent, they say so.

03

QUALITY OVER HYPE

Supplement picks favor products with independent testing, such as NSF Certified for Sport or Informed Sport. Each listing shows its certification and supporting research where they exist, so you can judge for yourself.

04

BUILT FOR MASTERS ATHLETES

The longevity and performance research is clear: what works at 25 doesn't fully apply at 50+. The protocols here are built around the physiology of experienced athletes and health-focused adults over 40.
